Elizabeth, NJ— Atalanta Corporation is pleased to announce that George Gellert, a visionary and dedicated man, has received the prestigious SFA 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Specialty Food Association (SFA). This honor recognizes Mr. Gellert’s unwavering commitment to building Atalanta, North America’s largest family-owned food importer. Through acquisitions, investments, and widespread product-expansion initiatives, Gellert has grown the business tenfold to more than $1 billion in annual sales. Today, Atalanta imports more than 6,000 food items from its partners in more than 60 countries.
Tom Gellert, President of Atalanta, explains that his father always looks for new opportunities and challenges the organization to innovate. “It’s just in his DNA to be very open-minded,” he said.
