The Specialty Food Association’s sofi Awards have honored the best in specialty food for over 50 years. This year, Villa Manodori won Gold for its Dark Cherry Balsamic, Caffe Vergnano won a Gold award for its Women in Coffee Espresso Beans, and Amedei was awarded Gold for its Crema Toscana Nocciola Black. Winning a sofi Award honors the best in class in specialty food and brings exposure from food buyers from top names in supermarkets, specialty retailers, foodservice, distributors, and the press.
Two-time winner Villa Manodori Dark Cherry Balsamic IGP of Modena is Chef Massimo Bottura's creation. The balsamic is aged in barrels made with the region's famed Vignola cherries trees for nine years.
Imported by DeMedici, Caffe Vergnano Women in Coffee Espresso Beans is a limited-edition coffee from the two lands that inspired our Women in Coffee project. Santo Domingo’s malty and fruity notes combined with Honduran Marcala chocolaty nuances are complemented by the finest South American and African Arabica and a touch of Asian Robusta.
Another DeMedici Import item, Amedei Toscana Crema Nocciola Black, is a creamy hazelnut and chocolate spread crafted in the heart of Tuscany. Made with 50% Tonda Gentile Trilobata Hazelnuts from Piedmonte and a higher percentage of cacao than other brands, it has an intense chocolate flavor. It is wonderful to spread in crepes, toast, or apple slices.
The Specialty Food Association works with the Food Innovation Center at Rutgers University (FIC) to manage the judging. Through anonymous tastings, FIC experts, specialty food buyers, journalists, and influencers evaluated the 2024 product entries to determine winners. A detailed process assesses entrants across 49 categories for flavor, appearance, texture, aroma, ingredient quality, and innovation.
The award winners will be showcased at the Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC from June 23 to 25, 2024. Visit DeMedici's booth #2836 to discover these winners.
